12.10 – Weatherbys & Birdie Calendars Open NH Flat Race – 2m
BY THE GRACE travelled really well en route to taking second on debut, and, with that experience to draw upon, which was a highly promising start to her career, Nicky Henderson’s charge can go one better.
Tips: BY THE GRACE
12.45 – John & Paddy Sheehan Memorial Handicap Hurdle – 2m
KLITSCHKO made hard work of getting the job done on his final start last season, but he still won two of his four starts, and surely better is to come here. ZAMBEZI FIX has normally competed in stronger races than this during his career and made the frame on his reappearance at Chepstow. He goes well on soft ground and should be in the mix.
Tips: KLITSCHKO, ZAMBEZI FIX
13.20 – Off The Fence On youtube.com/attheraces Handicap Chase – 2m4f
OXYGEN failed to make an impact in any of his hurdle starts last season, but did show a lot in his sole start over fences when formerly trained in France, and looks well treated off 103 having undergone wind surgery since last time. I fear MANINSANE, who ran well when second at Exeter last time and has a fitness advantage.
Tips: OXYGEN, MANINSANE
13.55 – Watch Off The Fence On attheraces.com EBF ‘National Hunt’ Novices’ Hurdle – 2m3f
SUPPORT ACT bumped into a potentially above-average prospect when second on debut (winner has won again since) before winning emphatically at Wetherby when last spotted. Switched to hurdles and now stepping up in distance, this promising five-year-old is the one to beat.
Tips: SUPPORT ACT
14.30 – Weatherbys Stallion Book Novices’ Handicap Chase – 2m7f
BRANDISOVA couldn’t quite land the hat-trick at Huntingdon last time but still ran well enough to suggest she’s in form and is fancied to make another bold bid. CAPTAIN CLAUDE should have come on for his reappearance third at Ffos Las just a couple of days ago and should have a future in this sphere. He can be included.
Tips: BRANDISOVA, CAPTAIN CLAUDE
15.05 – Sharon Knapp Memorial Cup Handicap Hurdle – 2m7f
BELLS OF PETERBORO was running a huge race at Cheltenham last time and was still in front before a bad mistake at the second last fence knocked the stuffing out of him. Back over hurdles from a reduced mark, he could make amends. I will add in BURROWS PARK, who gained his last win off a nine-pound mark.
Tips: BELLS OF PETERBORO, BURROWS PARK
